Mixed Team Relay (MTR) is a draft legal, super sprint distance event in which teams of 4 athletes (2 women and 2 men) each complete the full course with their cumulative time making up their team score.

This fast-paced, action-packed format is a new addition to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo and will be a great spectator event for TTF athletes on Saturday, July 20, immediately preceding the Try-A-Tri race and the day before our Olympic and Sprint age group triathlons.

We are proud to announce that Triathlon Ontario has once again awarded the TTF the Mixed Team Relay Provincial Club Championships.

RACE: Provincial Mixed Team Relay Club Championships

Clubs wanting to submit a team consisting of a female / male / female / male team of competitive athletes, should have one club executive email race organizers at Jeff.Chong@SFCinternational.ca. Due to road closure time constraints, club executives should only put forth teams that consist of athletes who are strong competitors – there will be an overall time limit of ONE HOUR AND FORTY MINUTES strictly enforced. Teams not completing their aggregate race by this time will be pulled from the course. Teams will be determined on a first come, first served basis, until the limit of 30 teams is reached.

  • All athletes must be current Triathlon Ontario members and furthermore be members of the club (they will be representing)
  • This is a draft legal competition, therefore ITU Age Group draft legal rules are in effect (i.e., no time trial bikes, aero bars or disk wheels)
  • Mixed Team Relay Club Champions will win a Triathlon Ontario award (presented at its Annual Awards Banquet) and will also have their club’s name engraved on a Triathlon Ontario trophy.

  • Race Briefing for MTR Provincial Club Championships – Friday, July 19, 6:00 pm, Ontario Place Lot 1. Mandatory for all local participating athletes. For those teams travelling from out of town, we would expect one athlete to attend (please contact us to discuss further if an issue).

  • Swim Course Familiarization – Friday, July 19, 6:30 to 7:00 pm, Ontario Place, Inner Harbour, West Channel.

  • There is no formal Bike Course Familiarization, as the road cannot be completely closed to traffic before the event. Having said that, interested athletes can still bike the course and view the transition zone, mount / dismount line, etc.
