The Toronto Triathlon Festival (TTF) is proud to formally announce the arrival of an open water race to its weekend festivities.

On Sunday, July 22, 2018, the inaugural “Toronto Mile” will be contested and will also play host to the first “Global Swim Series – Canadian Championships”.

“The TTF is a celebration of physical achievement. Athletes of all stripes will take on a truly urban triathlon in the 7th annual edition of the TTF this July,” said TTF President, Jeff Chong. “We were considering ways to grow the event and make it even more inclusive – and in 2018, the exciting decision to add a swim race has been made.”

The Toronto Mile will take you on a memorable journey through Toronto’s unique lakeshore landscape, starting in the heart of downtown Toronto, at Ontario Place, and doing a fast out-and-back loop inside the breakwater of Marilyn Bell Park.

“The Global Swim Series is the largest swim series in the world, with over 100,000 participants, in 144 races, in 37 countries.  We are based in Canada, so choosing a partner and location for the GSS – Canadian Championships was very important to us.  We feel that by partnering with the TTF we will be able to build the Toronto Mile into the premier open water race in Canada.  We are very excited about bringing this Championship race to Toronto.”  said GSS President, Rob Kent.

Whether you are an Olympian, weekend warrior or someone looking to add a challenging event to your summer, the Toronto Mile is a race that will test and reward you immeasurably at the finish line.

The Toronto Mile aims to become the crown jewel of GSS races in Canada and by becoming part of the TTF Weekend, in the heart of Canada’s largest city, the race is well positioned to become a can’t miss event on the summer open water circuit.
