I was inspired to compete in this year’s TTF after Simon Whitfield put so much effort into helping promote the event.

I love what Simon has done to put both the sport of triathlon and Canadian triathletes on the global map. As the sport’s first male gold medallist, he is a true force and does a lot of meaningful work for the triathlon community in Canada.

It may be just me, but I feel like each year the water feels warmer – I think that has something to do with the amazing atmosphere around race day! I actually look forward to the jitters and excitement at the start of the race now.

The early start time feels less of a strain because I look forward to chasing down the finish line. And nothing is better than actually racing on my favourite running route along Toronto’s waterfront!

P.S. if you need any more motivation to participate, the Hero Burger at the Finish Line Festival at Ontario Place is sooo worth sprinting for!
