We are pleased to launch the inaugural Virtual Toronto Triathlon Club Challenge!

A prize purse of $1,000 is being offered by the TTF and the Toronto Triathlon Club. There are TWO PARTS to this year’s version:

I. A new 20 km “Zwift Throwdown” that will feature 2 men and 2 women (per club), duking it out, cycling for club bragging rights (50% of prize purse); and

II. The traditional, club-wide challenge that awards points based on age group finish within the various Virtual TTF races (other 50% of prize purse).

To be eligible for the Virtual Toronto Triathlon Club Challenge, your club must have a minimum of 5 individual athletes registered for the Virtual TTF (i.e., relays will not count).

To have a club member’s results count for this competition, his / her Virtual TTF results must be uploaded to Sportstats by 12:45 pm on Sunday, July 19, the final day of the Virtual TTF Race Period.

And, as a club you must be sanctioned by a provincial federation.

Part I: New 20 km “Zwift Throwdown”:

On Saturday, July 18, at 2:00 pm, 2 men and 2 women (per club) will race on Zwift.

This race will be broadcast live on the TTF Zoom feed so all clubs members can support their respective riders. Clubs are encouraged to use this event as a way to get their members together virtually.

This Zwift race will feature road bikes only, no tron bikes, no power ups and will be draft legal.

For clarity, participating riders (in this race) do not have to be registered for the Virtual TTF to be eligible, but do have to be members of the club for whom he / she is riding (and have been so for longer than one month).

First, 2nd and 3rd place finishers for the male and female races will receive 60%, 30% and 10% of the prize purse (allocated to this race, or $500) for his / her club.

Part II: Traditional Club-Wide Challenge:

During the registration process, athletes should identify themselves as a member of their respective club.

Athletes should then sport their club gear with pride, as they work through the various legs of their Virtual TTF race, and post pics, videos as well as comments to social to drive engagement, fun and a little trash talking. Use the #VirtualTTF hashtag.

Modified Age Group Categories:

We will recognize the following age groups in both male and female categories:

U20, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+

(We have truncated age group categories as there will be lower overall registration for this virtual race than for a traditional TTF.)

Scoring Guidelines:

Club members will receive points awarded based on their True Age Group Division Place. For clarity, True Age Group Division Place does not remove overall finishers from the respective age group division.

Points are awarded as follows: 6 – first place, 5 – second place, 4 – third place, 3 – fourth place, 2 – fifth place for each age group division listed.

In addition, 1 point will be awarded for all club finishers (to a maximum of 10 points).

All of the points, noted above, will be accumulated from all four races to determine the clubs taking 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

The prize purse (allocated to this competition, or $500) will be awarded as follows: 60% for 1st place, 30% for 2nd and 10% for 3rd.

Overall Virtual Toronto Triathlon Club Challenge Winner

The average placing for the club’s 4 participants in the Zwift Throwdown will determine club placement within the overall Zwift Throwdown standings.

This Zwift Throwdown club placement will then be added to the club placement within the Traditional Club-Wide Challenge and then averaged to determine club placement within the Overall Competition.

This will determine the inaugural winner of the Virtual Toronto Triathlon Club Challenge.
